Cold War Era: Political Paranoia
1960 / NR / 52 min
The Cold War was not a war of guns or steel. It was a battle of ideas - yet people lived in constant fear. The government and the media had convinced the people that the Soviet Union could start a war to end life on earth at any time. Even more striking was the fear that communists could be living in our midst! The government felt they had to educate the population about how the red menace could end freedom from sea to shining sea! Therefore they created a series of propaganda films designed to foster paranoia and make people terrified of the communist threat. That paranoia was the heart of the Cold War!
